چکیده

The current study was carried out at the experimental farm of Rana Sugars Ltd., Buttar Seviyan, Amritsar, Punjab, India, to identify methods improve yield and quality ratoon sugarcane in potassium-deficient soils. treatments comprised two levels irrigation, resulting plants which either received sufficient water (I1) or were water-stressed (I2), four rates potassium (K) application: 0 (K1), 40 (K2), 80 (K3) 120 (K4) kg K2O ha?1. results showed that irrigation did not influence crop parameters significantly, although all presented higher values for I1-treated plots. Compared K1 (i.e., ha?1 K fertiliser applied) treatment, K2, K3 K4 yielded 11.16, 37.9 40.7%, respectively, millable canes 1.25, 5.62 13.13% more nodes per plant, respectively. At 280 days after harvest first (plant) crop, I1 treatment provided ratoons up 15.58% than those obtained with I2 cane girths 7.69% wider yields 7.29% observed treatment. While number plant differ significantly between treatments, there significant differences other parameters. Quality (with exception extraction percentage) enhanced by benefit-to-cost ratio (B/C) I2, due a reduced productivity associated both levels, resulted highest K1-, K2- K4-treated plots instances insect infestations receiving Relative plots, infestation early shoot borer (Chilo infuscatellus) 18.2, 6.0 12.2% higher, underwent K1, K2 while top (Scirpophaga excerptalis) 21.2, 9.21 14.0% stalk auricilius) 10.7, 8.10% higher. Not significant. Our research demonstrates growing soils applications under should be recommended increase minimising implement sustainable production.

study of potassium fixation capacity in some under-cultivation sugarcane soils in khuzestan

abstract this study was conducted to investigate, under incubation conditions (fc moisture and temperature of 30o c), the effect of the potassium concentration and the cultivation background on the k- fixation in khuzestan’s sugarcane under-cultivation soils. for this reason, 70 complex soil samples in 35 pairs each coupled out of two different depths (0-30 and 30-60 cm), chosen from the under-...

Effect of Ratoon Stunting Disease on the Yield and Components of Yield of Sugarcane under Rainfed Conditions

In a field trial conducted with eight varieties in the north coast area of Natal ratoon stunting disease (RSD) caused increasing lossesin yieldsof cane and sucrosefrom the plant to the second ratoon crop. All the varieties suffered losses in yield but the degree of loss differed markedly among the varieties. The total yield of sugar from the three crops was reduced by 38% in varieties NCo 376an...

Potassium status of two clayey calcareous soils treated with zeolite under wetting-drying cycles

Zeolite application to clayey soils may change potassium (K) pools distribution and its release rate. To test this hypothesis, two heavy-textured calcareous soils with different mineralogy (smectitic and mixed by XRD) from southern Iran were selected. Experiment was a completely randomized factorial arrangement. Treatments consisted of two soils and two zeolite levels (0 and 5%) and wetting-dry...

Fixation of Potassium in Soils.

That some of the potassium added in the form of fertilizers or otherwise becomes fixed in the soil had been known for a long time. With the clarification of the phenomena of base exchange in soils by Gedroiz it was revealed that the K-ion is fixed in the exchange complex not only in replaceable but also in non-replaceable form. A review of the work in this connection may be found in the paper b...
